Sofa, Louis Philippe style, 1880.

Sofa taken from the customer to the renovation was in very bad condition. The new owner of the historic house discovered it among the junk in the attic, where she lay unnoticed for nearly a century. The building also was not in good condition and occasionally leaked into it and rodents at her signed in the bad way. After a thorough inspection, we observed that investment in the piece is inefficient and we have suggested to customers that rather bought already renovated a similar sofa.

It was explained to us that it is only one piece of the original features of the historic building which is "preserved". And the way he wants to return the building its original beauty, so he wants to make and original piece of furniture in its beauty returned to the place regardless of the price. We respected his wishes and went to work.

 

First, we documented the sofa and then removed the original upholstery layers. Design and individual components are described and dismantled into separate parts, which have been recovered and subsequently petrified for hardening wood. We revise and reinforced structural bonds. Missing and devastated parts we added the same material. Production was the original technique using contemporary materials. Followed by sizing of the whole structure. The original paint was removed, repaired and supplemented lipping, walnut veneer and solid wood, bonding, grinding and preparation for the new shellac polish. he crowning work of the restorer is application shellac polishes to a high gloss. After finishing work comes upholsterer, which is proceeding exactly according to the documented work of previous masters and contemporary material using original techniques produce upholstery of coating.
